In the year 2015, at age 19, she released her single, her debut. The single was a hit and received praise from the public and from critics. It reached number 19 in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the most memorable songs in 2015. She debuted her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks that made it to the top spots on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special since based on her interview with Rap-Up, many people related to her journey in self-doubt as well as learning how to be a better person. Cara has earned a name to include messages regarding mental health, kindness and self-love within her songs. Her music is derived directly from her struggles with insomnia and mental illness. In a recent interview with Reuters, she described her album as "half turbulent" and "half done". The therapy she received helped her grow and urges people to try it too. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. The guitar was gifted to her from her parents at the age of turned 10 and this ignited her passion for the music. She started covering songs that she liked at the age of 13 in order to show the world she had the abilities and determination required to become a professional singer. One of her covers Sweater Weather was the song which got her attention by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to write and record the songs she composed.
